10 Commandments for ACTS Website Users


These "tongue-in-cheek" guidelines are here to help you protect yourself as best as possible against computer viruses, worms, and other problems. These are guidelines only and are provided to help you know where to start if you are having problems with your computer. If you feel overwhelmed or "in over your head" please contact the ACTS Webmaster and I will do my best to help!

  1. 10 Commandments for ACTS Website UsersThou shalt have the latest virus protection software installed and running on your computer. How to do it.

  2. Thou shalt run a full scan of your hard drive(s) to remove any viruses you unwittingly downloaded. (see your antivirus software help section for directions)

  3. Thou shalt configure your virus protection software to automatically check for updated virus definitions. (see your antivirus software help section for directions)

  4. Thou shalt install all Security updates onto your computer.  How to do it.

  5. Thou shalt not send unsolicited attachments to other ACTS members. (exceptions occur infrequently and only by the registrar)

  6. Thou shalt not open any attachments from anyone unless you are absolutely sure they are virus free.

  7. Thou shalt send all announcements through the ACTS Webmaster for distribution to ACTS members.

  8. Thou shalt check the FAQ page if you can't find something on the website.

  9. Thou shalt get and install the latest version of Adobe Reader for your computer so you can open the necessary registration forms and class description forms. It's a free program from Adobe. http://www.adobe.com/products/acrobat/readstep2.html

  10. Thou shalt error check and defragment your hard drive(s) at least once every 6 months. This will enable your computer to run more smoothly and quickly. How to do it.
